Strong Workforce Funding: Proposals for NETLAB+

This month local colleges and their regions submitted plans for the Strong Workforce Program funding, and many included allocations for NETLAB+ installations and expansions.

North/Far North

Proposal to fund NETLAB+ maintenance to improve cybersecurity instruction and expand remote access to virtual machines, routers, switches, and firewalls.

Central Valley

Proposal to continue efforts to expand the NETLAB+ Regional Hub, allowing access to participating colleges. This project will enable students to gain more experience in content areas such as Cybersecurity, Networking, and Programming by the ability to practice more often and at flexible times. The proposal also includes professional development and sharing ICT resources to strengthen program offerings.

South Central Coast

Proposal for the development and management of a regional NETLAB+ system. The region seeks to review vendor bids for a cloud based service to host the NETLAB+ environment or offer similar proven features and content.

Los Angeles/Orange County

Proposal to create a regional NETLAB+ Hub in order to give students round-the-clock access to CTE training and virtual labs, particularly in the IT and Cybersecurity fields. This regional sharing model will also enable colleges to offer courses that support training for industry certifications. Equipment would be housed at Coastline Community College.
