MICROSOFT LICENSING

  • Best to have Microsoft Imagine (used to be Dreamspark)
  • NDG had partnership with CSSIA.org to provide Microsoft VMs to NETLAB+ customers
    • Customer must put in own license key from Microsoft Imagine

IMPLEMENTING INTERNET VMs

  • NDG not currently supporting internet access to VMs (breaks the "safe sandbox")
  • Software based firewall such as pfSense deployed as VM is an option
    • One firewall per pod required
    • Be careful with IP addressing
  • Creating own firewall could be an option

ADVICE FOR MULTIPLE POD CLASS ACCESS - in person & online

  • Pods should be created without any assignments - pool of pods
  • Prioritize on campus classes
    • Schedule pods during time block
    • Use pod assignment (doesn't scale well)
